Preparing for A Level Science
  • Preparing for A Level Science

    By BioGrad Education
  • BioGrad Education is part of the BioGrad Group, established in 2014 and based at Wavertree Science Park in Liverpool. In addition to our unique range of laboratory and clinic-based training courses (Level 3 to Level 7), our curriculum team also provides specialist programmes to support A-Level Science students and teachers across the UK.

Our Preparing for A-Level Science classes are engaging, small-group online sessions designed to give students a real head start in Physics and Chemistry before beginning their A-Level studies. These sessions bridge the gap between GCSE and A-Level, building both subject knowledge and essential skills.

Led by experienced specialists Dr Carly O’Neil (Chemistry) and Sarah Annand (Physics), the programme combines pre-recorded video tutorials, independent practice tasks, instant-feedback quizzes, and interactive live tutorials. Students will:
    • Revisit and strengthen key GCSE topics
    • Master the mathematical skills needed for success (worth up to 40% of Physics and at least 20% of Chemistry marks)
    • Develop the problem-solving ability that A-Levels demand

The classes are flexible and practical. Learners complete the video and independent work at their own pace, then join a live online session where the tutor focuses on the areas that need the most attention.

Cost: £30 per student, per unit. Students may book up to three units. Spaces are limited to ensure personalised support. Book now to begin your A-Level journey with confidence and clarity.

  •  Dr. Carly O’Neil - Chemistry

Carly has been a specialist A Level Chemistry teacher for over 10 years. She holds a 1st Class MChem and a PhD in Chemistry, both from the University of Liverpool, as well as a PGCE from Liverpool Hope University. She worked as a Chemistry teacher and Head of Science in a Liverpool school for 10 years, and in 2019 came runner up in the Educate Award for Teacher of the Year. Carly is also an A Level Chemistry examiner for 2 English exam boards.

  • Sarah Annand - Physics

Sarah completed a PGCE at Liverpool Hope University and qualified as a secondary science teacher with a specialism in Physics in 2013 following completion of a Physics degree at the University of Liverpool. She taught Physics A Level and Mathematics/Science KS3/GCSE in a variety of schools before establishing herself in the broad network of professional outreach and public engagement with an aim to enhance the experience people have with science and technology. Throughout her career in STEM outreach, Sarah has shared her knowledge and passed on skills to thousands of individuals, specifically teachers and school children whom she encourages to pursue careers in the scientific field.
